There are many people that decide to try their hand at selling real estate on their own. Typically, sellers choose the "For Sale by Owner" route in order to avoid paying an agent commission. Unfortunately, trying to sell without an expert on-hand can lead to a great deal of stress, and thousands of dollars lost on the sale.

If you think about it, we put ourselves in the hands of other people every day. From hairdressers to dentists, or financial advisers to mechanics, we pay an expert to perform a service for us. We know that a professional will do a much better job than we can do ourselves because they have the training and experience to do the job right. So why do some sellers resist hiring an agent?

There's a misconception out there that real estate agents do nothing more than post Open House signs on front lawns, collect their commission cheque and walk away. If this were true, then yes, it would be very tempting to sell on one's own. Alas like many things in life, selling a house is much more complicated than that.

There are so many things to think about that you may not be aware of. A real estate agent can assist you through the entire process of selling your home. Some of the items we'll help you with include setting the sale price, advertising the property, and negotiating with buyers.
